Interview with Carlos Garo Happiness is in music

Talking about Carlos Garo is talking about an artist who deserves all our respects, being in the field of music a reference to take into account.  The effort and illusion for music have been classified as one of the best current musicians to become One of the greatest exponents of the New Age genus in Spain and finalist of the Hollywood Music In Media Awards 2016 awards.

1. Hello Carlos, first of all thank you for this interview, we know you are a quite busy person. To begin and as almost the first obligatory question for this interview: how did your interest in music begin?

My interest in music began from a very young age: my father played in a group and I started listening to the music of Santana or Procol Harum that he played with the instruments he had at home. Little by little I flirted with them and started accompanying what my father listened.

2. How has your way of making music evolved throughout your long experience and why you chose the New Age?

I composed the first album in five months without too much claim, I just wanted to make an album in which it composed from what happened to me at the time. Because of the good acceptance that the album had with hardly any advertising I wanted to make a longer and more production album. It took it to do it almost three years. From the result I am more than satisfied.

The truth is that I did not choose the New Age, but rather this style chose me. It is a musical genre that I carry in my blood and I get naturally.

3. We know about the history of your career that you started playing the guitar, but what instrument is the one that really makes you feel more comfortable when working?

When composing a melody the development first with a piano or synthesizer. Very rarely I have composed with the guitar; I prefer to leave it for the end of the subject to give voice to my melodies.

4. We have read that as a result of a not very pleasant experience, you wanted to make sense of what happened to be able to express your emotions through music? When and what happened?

I am a very sensitive person: I was very affected a love break after several years of relationship, I did not like where I worked at that time, nor was I comfortable with my environment. I felt a very large internal vacuum and decided to start from scratch. I did psychotherapies, I signed up for personal growth training and went to a therapist. Thanks to this I undertook my professional career and took a record with some success. He began to live in the way he had dreamed.

5. In a way, then we understand that you found it seems to be a therapeutic sense of music in terms of applications. Do we talk about music therapy?

That's: all my experiences I convert them into music. My last album was titled 'Entrance to the Parallel Universe' ('Entering the parallel universe'). It is my way of disappearing from reality and traveling to dreamlike places where I look for peace and well -being.

6. Could you define what kind of benefits we can find in music as therapy?

Music makes you laugh, cry, fall in love, disappear to imaginary worlds ... It's like dreaming awake. I don't think there is anything more exciting than traveling through music and getting carried away by the senses.

7. Does the artist born or do, Carlos? In your case it has undoubtedly been an evolution.

I think the artist is born. In my case I genetically inherited my father's taste for touching an instrument.

8. What work are you most proud and what dreams you have to do?

I am very happy with the result of my latest album 'Entrance to the parallel universe', but now I am finishing an album that I am doing together with one of my great musical influences: Terry Oldfield. The themes are playing very well and it is a luxury to work with Terry. Little by little I have managed to make my dreams come true and get this new album will be one of them.

9. What would you tell the young promises of music to face that hard world?

I would tell you that they persist and surround themselves with a great competent team.

10. Would you then recommend music therapy and if so, only in music or in general for ours and situations?

I recommend music therapy because it is necessary in general. I don't think we can live without music. Listening and creating music are two sides of the same currency and links us to our most instinctive nature. Music connects our neurons and releases emotions.

eleven. Well, thank you very much Carlos. Dinos please where we can find your work and future projects that we hope are many.
