Good luck

Good luck

Here is a riddle based on the history of elves "The golden horseshoe" that told how it was cut into seven pieces, with a hole the size of one nail in each one, and how the seven pieces turned into talisman necklaces for seven children. It is assumed that, after the first cut, the pieces must be stacked before giving the second, to divide those first pieces again, but the cuts must be straight and the paper cannot be folded.

Once you have solved this simple but interesting riddle, you can try a more difficult. How many pieces can the horseshoe be divided with only two straight cuts?

Solution

First make the cut AB to obtain three pieces, then bring them up in such a way that the CD and EF cuts can be done simultaneously.
